General Ledger and Compliance Supervisor
Job Summary:
The General Ledger and Compliance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger, ensuring timely month-end and year-end closings, and maintaining compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.This role supervises general ledger activities and assists in internal and external audits, while also driving continuous improvement in financial processes and controls.
Key Responsibilities:
General Ledger Oversight:
- Supervise daily accounting operations related to the general ledger.
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation and posting of journal entries.
- Monitor and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance with financial policies.
- Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes.
Compliance & Internal Controls:
- Ensure adherence to applicable accounting standards (e.g., IFRS, GAAP).
- Develop and implement internal control procedures to enhance financial integrity.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing required documentation and responding to audit queries.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, local tax regulations, and statutory requirements.
Reporting & Analysis:
- Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including balance sheet reconciliations.
- Assist in the preparation of regulatory and compliance reports.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, or areas for improvement.
Team Supervision & Process Improvement:
- Lead and mentor a team of junior accountants or finance staff.
- Train staff on accounting procedures and compliance standards.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and automation in ledger and reporting functions.
- Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or senior accounting role.
Strong knowledge of general accounting principles and regulatory compliance.
Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and advanced proficiency in Excel.
Experience in audit coordination and financial reporting.
Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills.
