Posted on 19 June 2026SCOPE OF WORK FOR ELECTRICIAN
Electricians are responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing electrical power, lighting, control and communication systems in residential, commercial and industrial settings. Their key duties include reading blueprints, installing wiring and circuit breakers, troubleshooting malfunctions with testing devices and ensuring compliance with national and local safety codes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Installation: Installing new wiring, electrical panels, lighting fixtures, conduits, control systems and outlets in new or existing structures.
- Maintenance & Repair: Inspecting electrical systems to identify hazards and repairing/replacing defective or outdated components (e.g switches, motors, transformers, generators)
- Troubleshooting: Using testing devices like voltmeters, ammeters and ohmmeters to diagnose malfunctions.
- Planning & Design: Reading and interpreting blueprints, technical diagrams and site plans to plan the layout or wiring and equipment.
- Safety Compliance: Ensuring all work complies with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local building regulations.
- Documentation: Keeping records of work performed, materials used and modifications made to systems.
Qualifications/Requirements
Education: Graduate of any electrical course or vocational course with NC IIExperience: Minimum of 2 years of experience, completed apprenticeship program
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of electrical systems, materials and safety procedures
Tools Proficiency: Skilled in using hand and power tools safely
