The Purchasing Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the procurement of raw materials, packaging, equipment, and supplies necessary for daily operations in a food and beverage company. Ensures timely delivery, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with quality standards, supplier agreements, and inventory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise day-to-day purchasing operations to ensure efficient and timely procurement.
Evaluate and select suppliers based on price, quality, reliability, and delivery speed.
Ensure all food ingredients and packaging materials meet company and food safety standards (e.g., FDA, HACCP).
Maintain optimal inventory levels to avoid shortages or overstocking.
Coordinate with the kitchen, warehouse, accounting, and production teams to forecast material needs.
Prepare purchase orders and verify accuracy of pricing and quantities.
Monitor and track delivery schedules, resolve delivery issues or supplier delays.
Review and negotiate contracts with vendors to ensure the best pricing and service.
Manage a team of buyers or purchasing assistants and ensure they follow company policies.
Conduct regular supplier performance evaluations.
Ensure proper documentation, filing, and reporting for all procurement-related transactions.
Maintain knowledge of market trends, pricing, and new ingredients or materials in the F&B industry.
Monitor budget and purchasing costs to meet financial targets.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
At least 3 years of experience supervising purchasing operations, preferably in the food and beverage industry.
Strong negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
Proficient in MS Office and purchasing/inventory software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).
Knowledge of food safety regulations and supplier audit procedures.
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
