Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled QA Lead to architect and lead a comprehensive quality assurance strategy across both legacy and modern platforms. This role will be pivotal in building a scalable QA practice, driving test automation, and ensuring the highest standards of quality across our IBM mainframe systems and AWS-based web applications.The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in both manual and automated testing, strong leadership capabilities, and a passion for delivering reliable, high-quality software.
Key Responsibilities- QA Strategy & Leadership
- Define and implement a robust QA strategy across mainframe, APIs, and web applications.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, and business teams to ensure quality is embedded throughout the development lifecycle.
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of QA engineers and testers.
- Hire and develop QA talent to support organizational growth.
- Testing & Automation
- Oversee and implement various testing types including:
- Regression Testing
- Smoke Testing
- Functional Testing
- Performance Testing
- Penetration/Security Testing
- Build and maintain test automation frameworks using:
- TDD/BDD methodologies
- Page Object Model
- Appium for mobile testing
- Terminal emulators for mainframe testing
- Drive automation coverage with a goal of 100% regression test automation.
- Process & Documentation
- Establish QA best practices, standards, and documentation processes.
- Ensure comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test reports are maintained.
- Track and report on QA metrics to drive continuous improvement.
- Build a Scalable QA Practice
- Drive Test Automation
Lead the transition from manual to automated testing, starting with regression suites and expanding to full test coverage across platforms.
Tech Stack & Tools- Automation & Testing Tools: Selenium (Java or Python), Appium, Postman, SoapUI
- Frameworks & Methodologies: TDD, BDD, Page Object Model
- Project & API Management: Jira, Swagger
- Systems Under Test: IBM Mainframe, AWS-hosted web applications, microservices, RESTful APIs
- Languages in Use: COBOL, Java, Spring Boot, JavaScript
- Other Tools: Terminal emulators for mainframe testing
- 5+ years of experience in QA, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Proven experience in both manual and automated testing environments.
- Strong understanding of mainframe systems and modern web architectures.
- Experience building and maintaining test automation frameworks.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and documentation skills.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Domain experience in the Cruise Industry, Travel & Hospitality, or E-commerce.
- Familiarity with legacy modernization projects or hybrid system environments.
