A stock clerk manages merchandise flow, handling tasks like receiving deliveries, organizing stockrooms, stocking shelves, tracking inventory, and ensuring products are ready for sale, often assisting customers and maintaining store cleanliness, requiring attention to detail, organization, and sometimes physical stamina for tasks like lifting.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Management:
Receive, unload, unpack, and verify incoming shipments; label items; conduct regular inventory counts and record discrepancies.
Stocking & Organization:
Move products from stockrooms to sales floors; arrange shelves neatly, ensuring price tags and labels are visible; create product displays.
Customer Service:
Assist customers in locating products and fulfilling orders (mail, web, phone).
Warehouse Operations:
Maintain a clean and orderly stockroom, process damaged goods, and operate equipment like forklifts (if trained).
Reporting:
Prepare documents and reports for transactions and compliance; report equipment issues.
