Job Description:

Major duties and responsibilities:

• Process private and secondary insurance claims using a computerized billing system, reviewing billing logs for accuracy and completion.
• Input billing charges and apply appropriate ICD-10 codes.
• Verify patients' insurance coverage and eligibility.
• Manage assigned workflows, including following up on claim statuses, handling denials, and filing appeals to ensure timely payments.
• Communicate with insurance companies to resolve denied claims and submit appeals with the necessary documentation.
• Address billing-related inquiries from insurance companies, patients, and staff, and resolve any complaints.
• Assist with additional tasks such as processing copayments, posting payments, and performing reconciliation.
• Correct and resubmit claims after identifying transmission errors with the payer.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Working knowledge of medical billing with minimum 1-2 years insurance collections experience
• Excellent customer service skills
• Critical thinking on every aspect of claim submission
• Ability to compose effective appeals
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to work in a fast paced, expanding organization
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, billing software, 10-key, ICD-10 coding, and medical terminology
• Strong attention to detail, and ability to collaborate independently and within a team.
