Junior Mainframe Developer (to start ASAP

Overview

This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with experienced development teams while contributing to the delivery of reliable business-critical systems.

• Prototype, develop, and unit test assigned application modules and program components.
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code in accordance with established development standards and business policies.
• Analyze functional and technical requirements and translate them into application solutions.
• Execute unit testing and document results to ensure program functionality and quality.
• Troubleshoot and resolve coding issues, defects, and system errors.
• Maintain development documentation, technical specifications, and version histories.
• Collaborate with senior developers, business analysts, and project teams to deliver solutions that meet business and technical requirements.
• Adhere to institutional coding standards, development methodologies, and governance practices.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in application development.
• Experience with Mainframe technologies and/or COBOL development.
• Working knowledge of at least one programming language or development environment (Mainframe, COBOL, Java, or similar).
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) principles.
• Experience in program development, debugging, and unit testing.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

• Experience supporting enterprise or legacy systems.
• Familiarity with batch processing and mainframe environments.
• Exposure to banking, insurance, or financial services systems is an advantage.
• Knowledge of source control and development documentation practices.
