Safety Officer

About the role

As a Safety Officer, you will be instrumental in fostering a safety-first culture throughout our organisation and maintaining our commitment to zero-harm workplace practices. Your strategic oversight will directly contribute to the success and reputation of Airmix Enterprise Construction Incorporated as an industry leader in construction safety excellence.

1. Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and unsafe work practices
2. Develop, implement and maintain comprehensive health and safety policies, procedures and guidelines tailored to construction environments
3. Provide safety induction and training programmes to all employees, contractors and site visitors to ensure awareness of safety protocols
4. Investigate accidents, incidents and near-misses, documenting findings and recommending corrective and preventative measures
5. Monitor compliance with relevant legislation, regulations and industry standards including building codes and occupational safety requirements
6. Maintain accurate safety records, statistics and documentation required for regulatory reporting and internal audits
7. Collaborate with project managers, site supervisors and safety committees to promote a positive safety culture
8. Conduct toolbox talks and safety meetings to reinforce safe work practices and communicate emerging safety concerns
9. Recommend and oversee the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety equipment on site
10. Liaise with external regulatory bodies, insurance providers and health and safety consultants as required

1. COSH-certified (40-hour Construction Occupational Safety and Health training)
2. Minimum 3-5 years of proven experience as a Safety Officer within the construction industry
3. Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation, building codes and construction safety standards applicable in the Philippines
4. Excellent understanding of hazard identification, risk assessment and incident investigation methodologies
5. Demonstrated ability to communicate safety requirements clearly to diverse audiences including site workers, management and external stakeholders
6. Proficiency in safety management systems and incident reporting software
7. Strong organizational and record-keeping skills with meticulous attention to detail
8. Ability to work independently and make sound judgements whilst collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams
9. Physical capability to conduct regular site inspections and work in construction environments
10. Professional certification from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) or equivalent credentials
11. Excellent command of English, both written and verbal; proficiency in Tagalog is advantageous
