Industrial Hygienist

Job Qualifications:

• Graduate of any 4 years medical related courses
• Must have at least three (3) years of work experience as medical practitioner

Job Summary:

Responsible for the day-to-day planning in the implementation of industrial hygiene program to ensure that anticipation, recognition, evaluation and control of environment factors or stress arising in or from the workplace from any potential health hazard will be prevented.

Major Job Functions:

1. Inspects and evaluates work operations, production methods, and engineering controls to determine potential contaminant emission sources or related health hazards associated with work place conditions.
2. Conducts investigations of working conditions in places of employment for the prevention of occupational diseases, and industrial health hazards, with specific reference to toxic substances, noise, and harmful physical agents.
3. Conducts Workplace Environmental Measurement (WEM) on airborne dust concentrations, noise, illumination, ventilation, temperature and its relative humidity and gas testing using WEM sampling equipment.
4. Monitors and inspects strict compliance of wearing the Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) to sites were personnel are required to use, sanitary facilities, industrial hygiene and sanitation and thereafter renders reports on the deficiencies noted and the unsafe practices based on IMS requirements and procedures.
5. Determines effectiveness of engineering control methods and makes recommendations regarding location, design, structure, operations, and maintenance of contaminant and physical agent control systems.
6. Evaluates investigation findings, proposed corrective and preventive measures, and compliance with health rules and standards.
7. Consults with management, IMS officers, IMS Coordinators, Internal Auditors, safety representatives, and other agencies regarding industrial safety and health problems and solutions.
8. Conducts follow-up investigations and industrial hygiene inspections and monitoring to ensure corrective and preventive measures are carried out where required.
9. Attends monthly departmental meetings and actively participates in the discussion of industrial hygiene and sanitation concerns and to provide corresponding solutions and recommendations.
10. Coordinates with the Occupational Health Team of the CCC Hospital in health awareness, promotion and monitoring programs to determine potential safety and health hazards in the workplace condition.
11. Assists in the formulation of the Industrial Hygiene Program.
