Data Quality Manager
Overall purpose, duties and responsibilities of the role:
The Data Quality Manager will be responsible for ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and consistency of the company's critical data assets.
This individual will play a key role in implementing and maintaining the company’s data quality framework, collaborating closely with the data owners, data stewards, technical teams and other stakeholders across the organization.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of data quality framework, data quality indices, business and technical data quality requirements, and be adept at developing and executing data quality rules and checks.
Data Quality Framework Implementation & Management- Lead the development and implementation of data quality frameworks and methodologies across the organization.
- Ensure that data quality policies are in alignment with business objectives and industry best practices.
- Develop and maintain data quality indices to measure and report on the health of data within the organization.
- Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for data quality.
- Design, implement, and automate data quality rules and checks.
- Ensure these rules address both business and technical aspects of data quality, including completeness, validity, uniqueness, consistency, accuracy, and timeliness
- Conduct regular assessments of data quality across various systems and data domains.
- Provide comprehensive data quality reports and dashboards to key stakeholders, highlighting trends, issues, and areas for improvement
- Identify data quality issues, assess root causes, and collaborate with data stewards and cross-functional teams to define remediation strategies.
- Track the progress of data quality improvement efforts.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for data quality rules, checks, and processes, ensuring transparency and consistency across the organization.
Prepare DQ reports ahead of time in preparation for the Data Governance Committee Meetings
Essential Skills / Qualifications:
- At least 5+ years of experience in data quality management, data governance, or related roles.
- Proven experience in designing, implementing, and successfully managing data quality frameworks
- Strong experience with data quality tools, databases, and data integration platforms. (IBM Infosphere, Trifacta, Informatica, Talend, etc.)
- Strong understanding of both business and technical data quality dimensions.
- Expertise in data profiling, and data quality rule creation.
- Familiarity with data quality assessment and reporting tools and techniques (e.g., PowerBI dashboards, DQ metrics and index, DQ KPIs).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data issues into business terms.
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, R is highly preferred.
- Understanding of data governance tools and methodologies is a plus.
- Experience working within the insurance industry or financial services is highly preferred
