Job Description
The Didipio mine is located on Luzon Island in the Philippines and is the Company’s only asset that produces both gold and copper. Didipio was built by OceanaGold in 2013 and operates fully as underground mine, with over 800 employees that support the mine.
OceanaGold is seeking a suitably qualified, experienced, and reliable Senior Metallurgist to safely manage, motivate and participate as part of the technical team, to identify and realize aspects associated with ore processing, to maximize gold and copper recoveries; develop testing regimes and analyse data for project work to realize process plant recovery and throughput improvements.
The role will report to the Metallurgical Superintendent.
Key tasks and responsibilities- Conducts investigative and systematic testing for plant recovery improvements, cost reduction and/or plant throughput improvements
- Optimizes reagent usage through continuous coordination with external consultants and suppliers on lab test works and plant trials
- Provides technical support to the Operations department to improve Process Plant performance
- Including process Plant monitoring and troubleshooting
- Leads the metallurgical staff to ensure that the metallurgical laboratory effectively delivers results for Process Operations
- Reports on production by preparing daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly statistics as required
- Attends daily Production meetings and weekly or monthly Metallurgy meetings
- Ensures accuracy and timeliness of production reports by utilizing PI and applicable programs with acceptable competency
- Coordinates with other departments effectively and maintains required channels of communication
- Make sure the SOPs are updated according to schedule
- Supports the Safe Behaviors program.
- Covers the role of the Direct Reports and peers when on break or on leave.

Qualifications

Educational Background:
- BS Metallurgical Engineering
Work Experience and Background:
- At least 7 years in a metallic mine processing plant
- Exposure to gold and copper extraction preferred
Specialization/License:
- PRC License in Metallurgical Engineering
