Senior Financial Accountant (NZ Payroll Experience, Hybrid)
Job Description:
Financial Accounting:
- Maintain the accounting system and associated procedures, including general ledger operations and control, chart of accounts maintenance, accounts receivable, accounts payable, bank reconciliations, the fixed asset register, and purchase order functions.
- Prepare monthly management reports, including analysis of actual financial results against budget.
- Prepare financial information to comply with annual reporting requirements and liaise with external auditors.
- Conduct all activities in compliance with relevant taxation, financial statutory, and government policy requirements.
- Balance Sheet reconciliation.
- Provide administrative support to the FC, including administration relating to finance, banking, and human resource functions.
Payroll:
- Verify the NZ and Australian payroll information from the Senior Payroll Officer for accuracy of information and to ensure that it complies with all company policies and legislative requirements.
- Perform the payroll function for the company in the absence of the Senior Payroll Officer.
Tax Compliance:
- Verification of PAYE.
- Verification and filing of GST.
- Verification and filing of FBT.
Accounts Payable:
- Supervision of all accounts payable to ensure compliance with approvals and company policies.
Collaboration with Offshore Services:
- Conduct appropriate quality checks of the offshore team members’ work to ensure their work meets the required standards.
- Provide timely communication to the offshore team members of any changes to their scope of work or changes to procedures relevant to them.
- Monitor and escalate quality, productivity, performance, or other issues of offshore team members to the relevant Host Manager and/or Host Employee.
General:
- Attend and constructively participate in team and company meetings.
- Adhere to company policy, including People and Culture and HSEQ policies and procedures.
- Provide positive and constructive feedback to others which supports the employee workforce’s adherence to the company’s values.
- Perform other reasonable duties as requested by management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or any related.
- CPA qualification.
- At least 5 years of experience in managing accounting systems and associated procedures in a commercial entity.
- Intermediate to high-level experience with Microsoft Excel.
- Experience using Sage Intacct, Tradogram, Access Micropay, and SiteTRAX is a plus.
- Experience using Microsoft SharePoint, Outlook, Teams, Excel, and Power BI is a plus.
- Previous proven record in management accounting, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Knowledge of financial accounting systems and their practical application.
- Knowledge and understanding of accounting standards, auditing, and internal controls.
- Knowledge of the business legislative requirements by the NZ Government, specifically Income tax, GST, and FBT.
- Ability to meet tight timeframes and the capacity to manage workflows and work on multiple projects at the same time.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
