Importation and Regulatory Manager/Supervisor
Job Summary:
The Importation and Regulatory Manager / Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the importation process, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and managing all related documentation. This role involves coordinating with suppliers, regulatory agencies, customs authorities, and internal departments to ensure timely importation of goods while adhering to all legal and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Importation Management:
Oversee and manage the entire importation process, from order placement to customs clearance.
Coordinate with suppliers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers to ensure timely and efficient importation of goods.
Prepare and review import documentation, including invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, certificates of origin, and other required documents.- Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure all import activities comply with local and international trade regulations.
Monitor changes in import regulations and update policies and procedures accordingly.
Obtain and maintain necessary import permits, licenses, and certifications.- Documentation & Record-Keeping:
Maintain accurate and organized records of all import transactions and related documents.
Ensure proper filing and documentation of import permits, licenses, and approvals.
Prepare reports on import activities, regulatory compliance, and customs-related matters.- Coordination & Communication:
Liaise with government agencies and regulatory bodies for import permits, clearances, and certifications.
Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., procurement, logistics, legal) to ensure compliance with import requirements.
Address import-related issues and resolve discrepancies effectively.- Process Improvement & Risk Management:
Identify areas for improvement in the importation process and implement best practices.
Develop strategies to minimize importation costs, delays, and compliance risks.
Monitor and evaluate supplier performance in relation to import requirements.- Team Management (If Managerial Role):
Provide guidance and supervision to the importation team.
Conduct training sessions on importation procedures and regulatory compliance.
Review and approve import-related documents prepared by the team.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education:- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, International Trade, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
- At least 3 years of proven experience in importation, customs clearance, and regulatory compliance.
- Managerial experience preferred for the Managerial role.
- Strong knowledge of import regulations, customs procedures, and trade compliance.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in importation software and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Ability to analyze complex regulations and implement compliant processes.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
